After the Christmas break I feel I have lost touch with some of my ideas, therefore I have begun by returning to drawing and collage just to regain my confidence with design and restore my faith in my ideas.

Digital Printing.

Learning about digital print processes and types of fabric has been useful in learning to contextualise my work. I was able to see how colours would show up on fabric as opposed to a computer screen and learn about the digital print process. I feel this was important as graphic-based designing is something I am comfortable with and therefore am looking forward to using it again in the future, and so I want to become comfortable with the process of booking a slot in the digital print room and practising printing on different kinds of fabrics. I am learning to be bolder with my motifs and chose a motif to print which displayed  a lot of colour and texture. This worked out well, especially with the synthetic fabric of the heat press/dyesub print, which I know from past experience needs good strength of colour in order to be successful and show up well. My aim with digital printing is to independently book some more time in the print room and print some small swatches of repeat patterns; I am interested in seeing how these will show up on fabric after seeing how the individual motifs worked out.
